Nexus 4 toolkit for root, bootloader unlock, custom recovery
The Nexus 4 Toolkit v1.1 which allows users to manipulate the phone without going through complicated processes. It’s easy to use and you have everything in one tool. It’s a must-have if you are a newbie in customizing your Nexus 4.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- LG Nexus 4 E960
- A Windows PC with Android Debug Bridge (ADB) installed
- Enable USB Debugging on your Nexus 4. Select Settings> Developer Options> USB Debugging.
- Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.
- Download the Google Nexus 4 Toolkit 1.3.0 (Google_Nexus_4_ToolKit_v1.3.0.exe, md5sum: 9329dec02e05e802702771c47eb4fa40) to your computer.
Instructions
Installing the Toolkit
- On your computer, double-click the Google_Nexus_4_ToolKit_v1.3.0.exe file to start installing the toolkit.
- On the installation window, keep clicking on the Next button until the installation starts. Don’t change anything in the setup, including installation paths.
- After completing the installation, click on the Close button to launch the Toolkit. You can also choose to launch it through clicking the Google Nexus 4 Toolkit v1.1 shortcut icon on your Desktop.
Installing Drivers
- Turn on your phone and make sure it is not connected to your computer.
- Click the Google Nexus 4 Toolkit v1.1 icon on your Desktop to launch it on your computer.
- Select Option 1 and press Enter to install the phone drivers to your computer.
- Connect the phone to the PC through the USB cable. The PC should be able to detect your phone and install the correct drivers.
Using the Toolkit
- Turn on your phone.
- Plug your phone to the computer with a USB cable.
- Click on the Google Nexus 4 Toolkit v1.1 shortcut icon on your desktop.
- Once you’re on the main menu, ADB Mode and Fastboot Mode can be seen at the top. If your drivers are installed correctly, you’ll see your phone’s serial number under the mode you are in.
- Type the number of the desired function you want to execute and press Enter. Every option has detailed information about how to use it and what it is for.
- If you want to exit the program, use the X option from the main menu so that it will completely terminate the ADB process and not leave it running in your computer’s background.
